An Important Update On Pastor Chris

As you know, Pastor Chris has been having a problem with his throat, and at the end of each service during this past weekend; we had the opportunity to pray for him. Today, we have some updates and would like to share with you.
Chris went to an Ear Nose and Throat Dr. on Wednesday, December 7th, because his right tonsil was extremely swollen. The Dr. told him he believed he had a tonsil cancer. In addition to the swollen tonsil Chris had a swollen lymph node on the right side of his neck just below the jaw. On Thursday, December 8th, Chris had a needle biopsy of the lymph node. A biopsy of the tonsil is scheduled for Thursday, December 15th. Today (12th) the Dr. called and said the biopsy revealed cancer. He believes the cancer started in the tonsil and spread to the lymph node. At this point Chris will have the tonsil biopsy on Thursday and is scheduled to meet with a radiation oncologist on Monday, December 19th. Tests will also be performed to determine if the cancer has spread to any other part of his body.
We need to pray for God’s healing power as well as for strength and faith for Chris and Sandy as well as Andrew, Tricia, Kara and Grace. Chris addressed the staff today and told them that great challenges also provide great opportunities. His hearts desire is for God to be honored and exalted in everything that happens and for the church to continue to thrive during this time and he looks forward to continuing his ministry here at Mount Pleasant for many years.

John 10:10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
1Peter 2:24 He personally bore our sins in His [own] body on the tree [as on an altar and offered Himself on it], that we might die (cease to exist) to sin and live to righteousness. By His wounds you have been healed.
3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers.
Psalms 107:20 He sends forth His word and heals them…
Exodus 23:25 You shall serve the Lord your God; He shall bless your bread and water, and I will take sickness from your midst.
Philippians 4:19 And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:32 He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?
Romans 8:11 And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you.

Chris you and your family are, and will continue to be in my prayers. I am deeply saddened. You will never know the impact you have had on my life. Through Christ you saved me and that led to both my daughters being saved at Mount Pleasant, my best friend, my sister in law, both my grandkids, a friend from work and yes even my 80 yr old father has now been saved at Mount Pleasant. I Thank God often for you and the ability you have been given to teach the word.

Pastor Chris….my husband Mike is 6 months out from cancer treatment for the same type of tumor. The Lord has not only saved his earthly life from this cancer but has SAVED HIS SOUL! He is now a follow of Jesus Christ because of this trial. He is cancer free today! He was treated at the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center/Head and Neck Institute. He began his treatment in April of this year and is doing very well. It has been a hard road but the results were excellent.
Fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God; I will strengthen you, yes I will help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10. Also, the Psalms have been a huge help, especially Psalm 18.

Pastor Chris…you are a source of strength and inspiration. When I walked into MPCC in June 2003, I did not know what to expect. Carla was begging me to go for months but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. I didnt want to get involved with another church. I believed in God and read my bible frequently but church was just a building that had brought deep sadness in my life. That was then…now I am involved in the worship choir and band, have been on a mission trip and faithfully attend church every week. I was even baptised at MPCC. Your sermons are an inspiration to me. I love to hear you say, let me hear your pages turn….I think mine turn more than most because I can never remember in what order the books of the bible are in 🙂 but every sermon I hear, I learn something about me, about God and about you.
I pray for you and for your family. God says that we shouldn’t worry about things but I do have genuine concern for you. Please know that as a church family, we are as close or as far away as you need us but know that we are praying for you and have one hand on your back the whole way through this treatment and healing process. I know that God has a plan for you. God bless
Since we have moved, I have missed your sermons. You always seem to be behind my closed doors and speaking directly to my heart. I love your passion. I love it when you say, “Let me hear those pages turning,” and when you say I wish we had more time to talk about this, I want to stand up and shout let’s take more time!
